Leaving Kusasenri-ga-hama behind, we head to Akamizu Station on the Hohi Main Line (Hohi Honsen).
From here, we use a switchback to reach Tateno Station. Then we move to Higo-Ozu.
The train has arrived.
From Akamizu to Tateno is downhill.
Along the way, the train stops at the switchback apex, and the driver moves to the opposite leading car, changes the direction of travel, and proceeds in reverse.
The tracks in the photo are not the opposing tracks.
Since this line is single-track, the visible tracks are the switchback tracks.
We arrive at Tateno Station, at the bottom of the switchback.
Here again, the driver moves to the leading car from earlier, changes the direction of travel, and departs.
Via Seta Station to Higo-Ozu Station.
From Higo-Ozu Station, we take a taxi to Aso Kumamoto Airport. The taxi ride cost about 1,200 yen.
