After finishing rounds at Tsu CC, Aichi CC, and Nagoya GC, we headed home.
On the way back, we stopped at Oyamada PA.
I bought Yasunaga mochi from Kashiwaya, a specialty confection of Kuwana.
It is fragrant and delicious.
It is elongated mochi with sweet red bean paste inside.
Yasunaga mochi has been sold along the Yasunaga street in Kuwana since the Edo period, and according to tradition, it was devised as an emergency food by Matsudaira Sadanobu, who lived in retirement in Kuwana.
A similar Japanese confection is also eaten in nearby Yokkaichi, where it is called "naga mochi."
Since Yokkaichi's naga mochi appears to have been eaten since the Sengoku period, it's possible that Yokkaichi's naga mochi spread to the surrounding areas.
